How Darky works, and how to get set up.
Adding the bot
Use the "Add Darky to Discord" button on the homepage. You'll need the "Manage Server" permission on the Discord server you're adding it to — that's a Discord-side requirement for adding any bot, not something Darky adds on top.
Required permissions
The invite link requests a broad set of permissions upfront — moderation (ban, kick, timeout), channel and role management, webhooks, threads, events, and voice access — but never Administrator. If your server added Darky before this changed, its role may still be missing some of these; open Discord's Server Settings → Roles, find the Darky role, and grant whatever's missing.
The full list the invite asks for:
- Kick Members
- Ban Members
- Manage Channels
- Manage Server
- Add Reactions
- View Audit Log
- View Channels
- Send Messages
- Manage Messages
- Embed Links
- Attach Files
- Read Message History
- Use External Emojis
- View Server Insights
- Connect
- Speak
- Move Members
- Use Voice Activity
- Change Nickname
- Manage Nicknames
- Manage Roles
- Manage Webhooks

Note: holding a permission and Darky actually using it are two different things. Ban/kick/timeout/warn actions — from the dashboard or a Discord slash command — are recorded as a case and carried out in Discord automatically, but only if the Darky role actually holds the matching permission in that server. If it doesn't, the action is logged as failed with the specific reason rather than silently skipped.
Role hierarchy matters just as much as the permission itself. Discord ranks every role by its position in Server Settings → Roles (higher in the list = higher rank), and a bot can only act on members whose highest role ranks below the bot's own role — regardless of what permissions that role has. If Darky can't ban, kick, timeout, or manage a specific member's roles, the most common cause isn't a missing permission at all: it's the Darky role sitting too low in that list. Drag it above every role you expect it to be able to moderate (including your own Moderator/Admin roles, if staff should ever need to be actioned) — the server owner is always exempt from this, regardless of role position.
Dashboard setup
Sign in to the dashboard with the same Discord account you used to add the bot. Servers you own appear automatically. Other people get access through the roles the owner sets as admin or moderator in the dashboard, or a dashboard access grant. There's no separate account or invite code.
Available commands
Darky has 96 slash commands, grouped by module below. Commands of modules marked Coming soon are not listed until they are live. Run /help in your server, or see the full command reference for every option and who can use it.

Who can run each command is listed with its module below ("Who can use it"). Server admins can change command access in Discord's Server Settings → Integrations → Darky.
Moderation
Warn, time out, kick, ban, softban and unban from Discord (/warn, /timeout, /kick, /ban and the rest) or from the dashboard's Moderation center. Both create a numbered case and go through the same enforcement queue. Look up a case with /case and a member's history with /warnings.
If Darky's role is missing the permission, or sits below the member's highest role, the case is marked failed with the reason. See Required permissions.
Tickets
Members open a ticket from a panel button, or with /ticket. Each ticket gets its own channel. /ticket uses the server's first ticket category; a server without any category only records the ticket (staff see it in the Tickets center) until a category is added.
Staff /claim a ticket, /add or /remove people, /rename it and /close it. Transcripts are saved on close.
AutoMod
AutoMod checks messages and joins as they happen: flood, duplicate messages, mention/emoji/caps spam, links, invites, scam links, attachments and NSFW words, plus minimum account age and join-raid rules.
Each rule acts once a member reaches the number of violations you set: delete the message, warn, time out, kick, ban, add a role or alert staff. Rules, thresholds and exemptions are set on the dashboard's AutoMod page; there is no slash command.
NSFW safety
NSFW safety is a focused safety filter for explicit keywords and known adult links. It blocks that content in regular text channels while allowing age-restricted Discord channels by default. Server owners and administrators can enable or disable the filter and manage its channel allow-list from the dashboard's dedicated NSFW safety page. The Discord /nsfw command provides the same controls for staff working in Discord.
Anti-Nuke
Anti-Nuke watches for a single account doing an unusual amount of one destructive thing in a short window: mass bans, kicks, channel or role deletions, webhook creation, mass role or channel creation, mass edits and mass permission changes. When the threshold is crossed Darky either alerts staff, or alerts and removes the roles of the account responsible (a bot that does it is removed from the server). It's separate from Anti-Raid below: Anti-Nuke's signal is one account's destructive actions, not member-join volume. Pick the response and set thresholds and windows per category on the dashboard's Anti-Nuke page.
Anti-Raid
Anti-Raid counts joins in a time window. When the limit is crossed it kicks or bans the new accounts, or locks the server down. You can also lock and unlock by hand with /antiraid or from the dashboard.
Lockdown raises the server's verification level to the highest setting and, unless you turn these off, stops @everyone sending in public text channels and pauses invites for 24 hours. Unlocking is manual: /antiraid unlock or the dashboard puts every channel, the verification level and invites back as they were.
Automation
Not available yet. Automations (run actions on a schedule or when something happens in your server) are still being finished, and only Darky staff can use them for now.
For automatic replies to messages, use the Auto responder.
Auto responder
Auto responder watches messages for a word, phrase, mention or pattern and replies with text, an embed or a random reply. It can also react, delete the original message, or give or remove a role.
Limit each rule to channels or roles and set a per-member cooldown. Rules are managed on the dashboard's Auto responder page.
Economy
A per-server currency: /daily, /work and /crime rewards, /balance, /transfer, a /shop with /buy, and the wager games /gamble and /rps. /gamble has a 45% win chance; in /rps, a tie returns your wager. Server admins manage the shop and rates on the dashboard's Economy page.
Shop items of type role give the role right after purchase; if Discord refuses (for example because the role is above Darky's), the purchase is refunded. Economy is listed for the Pro plan; no plans are on sale yet, so it is free to use for now.
Music
Plays audio in a voice channel with a queue: /play, /pause, /resume, /skip, /stop, /queue, /nowplaying, /loop and /shuffle. Sources are direct audio links, Jamendo tracks and internet radio; YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud are not supported.
/setup-music-channel posts a pinned info message in a channel; it is not a live control panel. Music has no dashboard page. It is listed for the Pro plan; no plans are on sale yet, so it is free to use for now.
Leveling
Members earn XP for messages and time in voice. Check progress with /rank and the server ranking with /leaderboard. XP rates and level-role rewards are set on the dashboard's Leveling page.
Level-role rewards give a role when a member reaches a level, optionally keeping earlier ones. Darky's role must be above the reward roles.
Reaction roles
Members pick roles themselves with reactions, buttons or a select menu on a message you set up. Roles can be temporary and expire on their own. Configure them on the dashboard's Reaction roles page.
Verification
New members press a Verify button in a channel you choose and get the verified role; Darky can also remove an unverified role and require a minimum account age. Instead of a single press you can ask members to type a code shown in a picture, or to answer a question you choose. You set the channel, message text and roles on the dashboard's Verification page.
Darky only gives the role. What unverified members can see is decided by your channel permissions.
Welcome & auto roles
Post a welcome message (optionally with an image card) and a goodbye message, send new members a DM, and give them roles automatically. Configure it on the dashboard's Welcome & auto roles page.
Analytics
The dashboard's Analytics page shows member joins and leaves, message activity, the busiest channels and members, and moderation trends. There is no slash command.
Message activity and leaves are recorded from October 2026; earlier days show none.
Staff tools
Staff profiles with departments and specialities, and per-staff case and ticket statistics, on the dashboard's Staff page.
This is not a permission system. Who can do what still comes from Discord roles and the roles you set as admin or moderator in the dashboard.
Giveaways
Timed giveaways that pick winners automatically when they end, with rerolls. Start one with /giveaway (optionally with a required role), or from the dashboard's Giveaways page, where you can also require a level or balance.
Polls
Polls support single- or multiple-choice voting with live vote tallies, startable from Discord with /poll or from the dashboard's Polls page — either way, results stay in sync between both.
Starboard
Starboard reposts popular messages into a highlights channel once they cross a reaction threshold you set. Configure the threshold, the reaction emoji, and the destination channel from the dashboard's Starboard page — there's no slash command for it.
Suggestions
Members post ideas with /suggest; others vote with reactions. Staff approve, deny or mark them implemented with /suggestion or from the dashboard, and the suggestion message is updated. Members are not notified separately.
Birthdays
Members set their birthday with /birthday. On the day, Darky posts an announcement in your channel at the hour you choose, in the server's timezone, and can give a birthday role for the day. /birthday list shows who is next.
Embed builder
The embed builder is a visual editor for rich Discord embeds — build, preview, send, and later edit a message without hand-writing embed JSON. It's dashboard-only; there's no slash command for it.
Server stats
Darky renames channels you pick to show live counts: members, humans, bots, online members, boosts or open tickets. Updated every 5 minutes. Pick the channels on the dashboard's Server stats page; Darky doesn't create them.
Temp voice
Joining a channel you choose creates a personal voice channel for that member, who can rename, lock, limit, hide, claim or hand it over with /voice. Empty channels are removed. Configure it on the dashboard's Temp voice page.
Darky needs Move Members to move the member into their new channel.
Troubleshooting
- A moderation action shows in the dashboard but didn't happen in Discord.
- The Darky role is almost certainly missing the matching Discord permission — see Required permissions above.
- I can't sign in to the dashboard.
- Make sure you're signing in with the Discord account that owns the server, or has a role the owner set as admin or moderator in the dashboard. If sign-in appears to do nothing, an ad blocker or privacy extension may be blocking the redirect — try disabling it for darky.me, or use a different browser profile.
- Sign-in shows "Sign-in blocked" with a reference ID, or a plain "403 Forbidden" page before Discord ever appears.
- A message with a reference ID means the request reached Darky and was rejected by a network/access check (region, VPN/proxy, or connection type) — clicking "Continue with Discord" again retries the same check, so this won't resolve itself if the check keeps failing. A bare, unstyled "403 Forbidden" page with no Darky branding and no reference ID means the request was blocked even earlier, before it reached Darky at all (e.g. by a network-level filter between you and darky.me). Either way, contact support — see below — and include the reference ID if you have one; without it, include the exact time and which login link you used (homepage vs. dashboard) so it can be traced.
- My server doesn't show up after adding the bot.
- Confirm the bot is still in the server (Server Settings → Integrations) and that you own the server or have a dashboard admin or moderator role there. It can take a minute for a newly added server to sync.
- Something else.
- Check the status page for a known incident, or ask on Discord — see below.
Privacy and data deletion
See the Privacy Policy for what Darky collects and why, and the Data Deletion page for how to request removal of your account or a server's data.
API documentation
Darky's API currently powers the dashboard and bot directly — it isn't offered as a public, stable integration API yet, so there's no public API reference to link here. If you're building something that needs direct API access, ask on Discord — see below.
